Old Town Players Having Fun

As some of you may know, we started CX-Creative Spaces to continue inspiring hope through our love of the arts in our community nearly 4 years ago. And now, we are in our 3rd Season of producing community theater shows in and around the Lilburn, Georgia area. Our latest production launched this past Thursday, and our team has pulled together another amazing show! We are so excited to share the incredible work of our hard-working director, assistant director, actors, and actresses, production crew, and more who are delivering smiles, laughter, and joy for our community.
I think what stands out about this production is that the director, Marla Krohn, is an expert at this work. She has been directing for years, and her specialty is comedy productions. She knows how to teach the actors and actresses to land their lines at just the right time to bring out the giggles and belly laughs that the writer intended. The best part about this is that she LOVES it and you can tell. She LOVES teaching, guiding, and encouraging these talented people who are most excited about being molded and shaped into the characters they have been cast to play.
Guiding and directing people into a beautifully designed production is not an easy task. And Marla Krohn’s perfectionism always pays off. She finds a way to turn a plain old city hall room into a New York Plaza Suite that transports the audience to a time and era where things were light and complicated. And with most Neil Simon plays, there is always a twist of complication in relationships, and the director and cast made the audience appreciate the complexities of the stories.
Here’s the twist! A director, the cast, the lighting team, the sound team, and all the players have to find ways to appreciate what each team member brings to the table in a production like this. And a good team learns how to trust and respect one another through this work. The Performing Arts “final product” may look amazing and fun, but it took a lot of hard work and creativity to get there. Those of us who get to enjoy the show also need to remember, honor, and respect all the people who took the time to make the story really come alive. This is how creative spaces offer hope!
Of course, the audience makes it all worth it! The bigger the audience, the greater the laughter, resulting in more fun that everyone gets to have together in live theater. We hope you’ll take time to join us for the last few shows!
There is a production on Sunday, Sept. 14th at 2 PM and three more productions next weekend, Sept. 18th, 19th, and 20th at 7:30 PM at the City of Lilburn, City Hall!
